vol.12b - Chopin's variants

[Variants' change in quality]
Yuko addressing to TV viewers: "Chopin's early work - light, ornamental like a jewel (Nocturne in E-flat major Op.9 No.2). His late work - the variant emphasises his deep feelings (Nocturne in E major Op.62 No.2). It seems Chopin's attitude towards the variants had been changing. In his late works, they are very telling, earnest, more 'essential'. For us - moving, even painful."
